Aryan Narrations: The Monster of Mont Saint-Michel – HOB 080417

Mont Saint Michel

The 14th reading from Gregory of Monmouth’s History of the Kings of Britain concerns the preparations made by Arthur and the nations loyal to him for the great battle against Rome. On their way to the battlefield, they first stop off to despatch a giant rapist on Mont Saint-Michel who had kidnapped Helena, the niece of the Armorican King Hoel.

The Roman side was mainly made up of the East, including the kings of Syria, Libya, Africa and Persia, while Arthur’s forces were made up of Danes, Norsemen and Gauls, all of whom had been liberated by him from the yoke of Rome.

The Britons go to the Roman camp to offer them terms of surrender, but a skirmish ensues which the Britons win after first taking some wealthy captives. One team heads off to Paris with these captives only to be ambushed by the Romans once again while the rest head for Saussy, the site of the ultimate showdown between east and the west in the next episode.
